I’ve seen a lot of proposed solutions. The most common seems to be a variation of the old sleeve, genre Palm computer cover. These are basically book-like covers that protect your tablet computer from scratching and minor drops by encasing it in something that resembles a book. They are sensible enough, yet they also strike me as unsatisfactory. It tries to treat your table computer like a kindle or other e-book device, when clearly it isn’t. Moreover, you want something that provides a bit more than scratch resistance (a cheap neoprene sleeve would do that) as well, ideally as drop resistance and squash resistance. What do I mean by that? Well it seems the first risk to an iPad is that it will fall of a table onto a hard surface or will be in an unpadded bag and be dropped onto a hard floor. The next risk is that while in a bag it gets stood on or kicked accidentally. So it seems to me that what you need is some sort of hybrid solution such as a hard cover with padding. When I finally get mine I hope to put it in a book-like cover and then carry it in a padded ipad messenger bag.
