A deodorant recipe with baking soda that is super simple to make, natural and effective against odors.
I have tried many different ways to make a deodorant that is effective and natural. There is of course the alum stone, a natural product that is no longer without controversy concerning health problems that it can occasion. As I am a fervent believer of the many baking soda uses, it is only fitting I should turn to this amazing product for a deodorant.
You can use baking soda as deodorant as shown in this article. But, if you prefer having the look and feel of a commercial deodorant you need a recipe to make something that can be applied with a roll-on or a stick.
So here is a little easy deodorant recipe: you don’t need to have all the ingredients listed, (but it’s nicer), see the cheaper version of this recipe in the money saving tip.
- ½ teaspoon hamamelis water also known as witch hazel (used as astringent)
- 2 rounded teaspoons of baking soda
- 1 teaspoon vegetable glycerin (for texture and for a smooth skin)
- 2 teaspoon aloe vera gel (soothing, hydrating and for texture)
- 1 drop of Essential palmarosa oil
- 1 drop of Essential tea tree oil
- 1 drop of Essential cypress oil
Mix well, until you have a smooth texture, and pour into an old (or new) roll-on bottle. Shake well before each use. This is a little liquid as a texture, so make sure to keep the roll-on ball upward when applying or you risk to have some dripping.

If you don’t have all these ingredients go for the super fast super cheap version: mix aloe vera gel with baking soda (2 parts aloe vera, 1 part baking soda. Cheap and effective. |
NOTES
1. This is not really an antiperspirant (although it does work somewhat as such). It is however, super effective as a deodorant. To prove it to yourself, try it under one arm and compare.
2. This is my favorite type of deodorant for teens and preteens, as it does not contain anything that can harm them.
