Disadvantages of Mobile Broadband

by GuestPoster

Is mobile broadband the right way for you to access internet? In the wake of the internet technology, remarkable innovations have made internet access much easier, such as mobile broadband technology. Mobile broadband technology is taking over the traditional internet options that are static and need a lot of wires for one to access the internet. However, despite the undeniable practicality that mobile broadband offers have brought for business people, students and regular folks, there are some downsides that you need to consider before applying to a broadband provider.

The one thing that could be a hindrance while using mobile broadband is its limited downloading capacities. This means that users who use internet for large scale downloading projects are limited to how much they can download at any particular time. The limits are between 1GB and 10 GB. The reason for these restrictive downloading boundaries is the high cost involved in transferring data over 3G networks in comparison to the relatively low cost involved in home broadband solutions. Another reason for the limitation emanates from the providers’ concern of system overloading were they to allow unlimited downloading capacities for all their users.

In addition, the restrictive nature of mobile broadband, users will find its slow speed quite a downer. In spite of the convenience of accessing internet on the go, you will spend a relatively longer time waiting for pages to upload. This is a major setback if you are in fast-paced kind of business or if you need to deliver a project in urgency. There are few mobile broadband providers in the current market given the sheer cost of providing these services and the preponderance of the home broadband providers that are still preferred by traditional users. This fact alone may limit the options that you have in terms of rates and speed, because most of the existing providers do not have such differing offers for lack of competition.
