If you want to lose weight, then you have to have solid motivation in place. Without motivation you will have no direction and no drive and you are much more likely to fail in your weight loss attempts. But with motivation, you will have more clarity of your goals, you will be more encouraged and you will most definitely succeed in weight loss. But how does one get that type of motivation? 1. Set goals

Start by setting exercise and diet goals. When you have solid goals, you will have a sense of purpose and that will lead to some great motivation.

2. Write down your reasons

Think about why you want to lose weight and write them down on a piece of paper. Review this reasons every morning and evening to motivate yourself.

3. Keep a visual reminder

Keep either a picture of your main reason close by or make a collage of all your reasons using only pictures. Keep this close by and see how that motivates you.

4. Document your progress

Write down your exercise and diet stats every day – what you ate and what exercise you did including the weight loads, the intensity and the speed.

5. Mark off your weight lost

Write the amount of weight you need to lose on a piece of paper and count the number down until zero. Mark the numbers off as you lose weight.

6. Do only cardio that you enjoy

To keep you motivated while you do some cardio, stick to the cardio machines you enjoy most.

7. Have a workout buddy

Exercise with a friend – she will motivate you and make you push harder.

8. Have positive and healthy rewards

Think how motivated would you be when you know there awaits fantastic rewards when you achieve your goals.

9. Buy new workout clothes

Buy new gym clothes (even if it is only socks), it will motivate you to get in them and to stat exercising.

10. Listen to upbeat music while working out

Funky, upbeat music will not only make you enjoy exercise more but it will also make you more motivated to attend the exercise session.


Weight training is just as important as cardio in an exercise plan. Make sure that you do both – for cardio you can do running, swimming, biking and cardio machines and for weight training you can use fitness adjustable dumbbells or the stationary weights free dumbells.
