Fitting Motorcycle Soft Luggage

by Gregg Dodds

Many U.S. citizens can recall a time when you were lucky to find a space for the license tag on your motorcycle. Carrying clothing and personal belongings was unheard of at that time. Bikes were for leisurely rides, unless you were considered motorcycle riding fanatic. Most people spent a few hours a week riding and would never consider riding across the country, this was far too unconventional an activity for the average person. Today things are much different and trips across the country on a bike are far more common. Groups such as the Golden Eagles have helped such activities become more acceptable in society. Today’s riders are far from the long haired hippie types of past decades. It is not unheard of for riders today bringing along possessions such as notebook computers, iPods, cell phones or a GPS unit. Extra clothing, personal care items, water and snacks are also typically included on long rides.

Bringing along all the extra gear demanded a product to store the items, while attaching to the bike in a sensible manner. A perfect solution is to purchase a soft luggage tail pack or panniers which are designed specifically for use on a motorcycle. Such products can be strategically attached on the bike to provide additional storage, without interfering with movement or performance. Using such a product will allow a rider to turn a leisure bike into a touring machine that can travel through many parts of the U.S.

Motorcycle soft luggage is ideal for just about anyone because it provides such simple storage. These items are similar to a typical backpack, with additional straps of leather or synthetic materials that attach to the bike instead across one’s shoulders. It is easy to see why these items are in such demand by frequent riders. They are simpler to carry than the card cases sometimes seen and can be removed at night when you stop for lodging, rather than emptying the contents.
