Getting Constipation Relief

Most people do not know that if they are not having at least two bowel movements every day they are constipated. Ideally, we should have a bowel movement with a few hours of eating a regular meal. Unfortunately, this does not happen because of the large amount of processed foods people eat these days. Of course there are other reasons for constipation, including consuming high protein and high fat diets, along with the high consumption of processed foods.

Many people take a large amount of prescription drugs too, and this accounts for a high percentage of constipation. If you read the side effects and information papers that come with your prescriptions drugs, you will see that most of them cause constipation. This is even more true if you are taking pain medications and muscle relaxants. So how can you get some constipation relief without adding to the amount of medication you are already taking.

You really do not have to live with the bloated and tired feeling of constipation, relief is possible but there are some lifestyle changes you need to make. The most important is drinking enough water. We need to drink at least 8-12 glasses of water each day depending on our body size. This helps to keep things flowing. We also need to increase our intake of foods high in fiber, mostly fruits and vegetables. Steering away from processed foods and eating mostly whole foods, is a great way to get started on a healthier bowel.

Apples are a great way to increase your fiber intake, and if you eat one before bed, you can almost always be guaranteed a bowel movement the next day. Another good fruit choice are prunes. Prunes used to be the only thing that people used for constipation relief. Today, the market is full of manmade synthetic over the counter laxatives. Always chose the natural way to restore your digestive system first.

Dandelion tea and Smooth Move tea, are both excellent natural ways to induce a bowel movement. They will also help to cleanse your liver, which makes your liver better at removing toxins.

Another great way to stimulate those bowels is to walk a few miles or bounce on a trampoline for a few minutes, a couple of times per day. Both of these actions stimulate bowel function naturally, and exercise is good for many other reasons too.

There is no need to take laxatives every day of your life, if you will just commit to changing the way you eat. All natural, organic, and whole foods will do wonders for your bowels, along with a little exercise. Stay away from processed high fat foods, and commit to change. You will feel more healthy, energetic, and strong in the long run.
