There is an entirely magical world out there in the movie industry. Everything from cartoons to motion pictures, magic is a hot topic in the movie industry because you can make them about anything you want them to be. They don’t have to be realistic or even all that believable because it is all make believe. The kind of enchantment they dream up doesn’t really exist in the world we live in, but we would like it to and that is what draws us into the theater to watch these movies. In the case of cartoons, it builds a child’s imagination to think that anything could happen and that there is a world out there that is fun and exciting if they are willing to dream it up.
Cinderella and Peter Pan are classic movies about magic. They both take the premise of a child who feels unwanted and uses magic to take them to a place that they could never have even dreamed of before. In Peter Pan, he goes to Never Neverland, a place just past the second star to the right of the moon and straight on until morning. There, it’s filled with pirates and Indians where he and the other lost boys have adventures all day long. Cinderella has a fairy godmother that comes down and turns her into a princess and her pumpkin into a carriage so that she can make it to the ball in style.
One of the most popular magic movies is the Harry Potter Series. Harry Potter and his friends live in an alternate world in England where dragons, wizardry and even imaginary foods and games exist. Harry and his friends go to a boarding school called Hogwarts a school of witchcraft and wizardry where they are trained in the ways of charms, spells, potions and even defense against the dark arts. Harry, being the Chosen One, takes on the Dark Lord several times throughout his years there and saves the wizarding world from a disaster that otherwise would make them all evil.
One of the newer movies series about magic that is still in the making is the Twilight Series. Although they cannot do spells themselves, the Cullen family are vampires that live among humans and only Bella and her family friend Jacob, whom is also a werewolf, know what they truly are. It takes a fair bit of movie magician like magic to be able to recognize someone for what they really are, especially if they are a monster.
