The Yugioh collectible card game is a game which is based off of a comic book series which was developed into a television anime series focused towards the interests of children and young teenagers. Alike to most television anime series a fan craze eventually leads to the distribution of some sort of series based collectibles thus Yugioh collectible card game came to be.
What makes the card game collectible?
When it comes to collectible card games each series of cards are distributed in what we would call generations. Traditionally each time a new generation comes out the last distributed generation fades out of production then making the older generations incapable of being purchased through retailers and companies. Thus the older the generation and the shorter the distribution the more that generation of cards is worth.
Normally also with Yugioh cards you will find that the cards in each generation are also distributed on a either common to limited basis. You can either purchase small packs which have several common cards, a few uncommon cards, and usually a rare or holographic card and the cards in which you purchase is random and a “surprise upon opening.”
How does the game work?
The Yugioh collectible card game is obviously not just produced simply for a value and collect basis although it plays a big part in the game. To play the game traditionally you must have accumulated a deck of cards which is played between two people. The game is an imaginative simulation through card use which the players are wizards summoning “creature cards” to attack and eliminate the opponents life points.
Each player starts with 8000 life points and with each attack a fraction of the life points is deducted depending on the cards specifics for the amount of damage dealt. When battling there is not just creature cards to be played, there are spell cards, healing cards, trick cards, and much more. When assembling a deck a player needs to remember that no more than 3 of the same card may be used in a deck.
Yugioh collectible cards are also used in tournaments usually held inside game stores which sell the cards and use the tournaments as a way of promoting business and often offer a prize to the winning opponent of the said tournament event. When playing in a tournament you can expect a few rules as to specific cards which may not be allowed to be included in a deck due to competitive fairness between competing players.
The two newest sets of cards are Yugioh GX Cards, and Yugioh 5Ds Cards.
