When you own a Touring Caravan, Motor home or Trailer Tent you need a place to store it when you are not using it.
This is normally in the winter months as during the season you will most likely be using your caravan most weekends in order to get the most use of it. During his winter break from your caravan it is likely that you will not see your caravan for weeks at a time so you will want to rest easy safe in the knowledge that it is safe and secure.
There are a couple of different options of caravan storage that you could look at:
At your own home, provided you have a very large driveway or garage or perhaps access to your back yard, or on a year round campsite.
The cheaper option of the two would be to store it on your own property. This is also a good option if you are the type of person who worries a lot, and wants to see it with your own eyes everyday. In this case it is the best storage option and it also gives you extra opportunity to maintain it and even take it out on occasion over the winter months.
Unfortunately this solution has a couple of big drawbacks, such as upsetting the neighbours for blocking their view, and giving local thieves an indication of when you might be on holiday as your caravan is gone.
The other option for storing touring caravans over the winter months is on a camp site that is open year round. This is a great option if you were tired of towing your caravan every time you went away and you like to visit the same place time and time again. It has the added bonus of not having to constantly unpack and repack everything but it too has negative factors.
The main one of these factors is the fact that you would have to pay a large fee for the constant use of the pitch on the camp site, unless of course you could negotiate with the owner. Security would also be an issue as cars can often drive in and out of camp sites unopposed during the day and someone may just help themselves to your caravan. Added things for consideration would also be the fact that your caravan would be out, exposed to all weathers which could lead to leaks and other damage that you would not find out about until you visited your caravan again, possibly weeks or even months later.
